2023 Asian Heart Rhythm Association Awards

The Asian Heart Rhythm Association has recognized experts' academic accomplishments and professional achievements to select the 2023 awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Outstanding Contribution Award, the Outstanding Chinese Electrophysiologist Award, the Outstanding Chinese ECG Physician Award, the Outstanding Chinese Pacing Physician Award, and the Outstanding Chinese Young and Middle-aged Heart Rhythm Physician Award.

ACAS Lifetime Achievement Award

Recipient: Professor Jiang Wenping

Born in July 1932 in Jiading County, Shanghai, Professor Jiang graduated from Dalian Medical College in 1956 and received his Ph.D. from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1961. Since 1962, he has worked at Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and in 1973, he joined the Cardiology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Suzhou Medical College, where he still serves. He pioneered non-invasive electrophysiological examinations, the first percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), the first automatic implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (AICD), and the development of the first AED with Chinese intellectual property. Over the past 70 years, Professor Jiang has made outstanding contributions to China's cardiac electrophysiology and pacing fields. In recognition of his academic and teaching achievements, ACAS presented him with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

ACAS Outstanding Contribution Award 

Recipient: Professor Lu Xilie

Professor Lu, former director of the Non-invasive Cardiology Center at the PLA General Hospital, is one of the founders of Chinese electrocardiology, with a 50-year commitment to the field. He has led or participated in the creation of numerous authoritative guidelines in electrocardiology, greatly enhancing China’s expertise and talent cultivation in the field.

Recipient: Professor Huang Weijian

Professor Huang, a chief physician and doctoral supervisor, is the director of the His-Purkinje System Pacing Research Institute at Wenzhou Medical University. His team was the first in China to initiate His bundle pacing and left bundle branch pacing, contributing significantly to the global advancement of physiological pacing.

Recipient: Professor Li Xuebin

Professor Li, deputy director of the Cardiology Department at Peking University People’s Hospital, has been pioneering pacing and electrophysiology since 1994, promoting catheter ablation and pacemaker procedures nationwide. Known for his contributions to CRT implantation and innovations like the "Li catheter," he has cultivated thousands of electrophysiology professionals.
